What is my background and how did I become a locksmith?

My interest in becoming a locksmith began in the New Zealand Army when I was involved in safe opening. This began an interest which saw me complete a course of locksmithing while in the army.

After ten years in the army, I joined Chubb New Zealand as workshop technician and became a civilian locksmith.

The main skills needed to be a top locksmith are wood-working, metal-working and mechanical skills. You obviously need to be mechanically minded to understand exactly how locks work and where they may fail.

These areas have always been strengths and interests of mine, and are why I am skilled and suited to this line of work.
